At the moment, The 5th Wave novel has taken an unexpected turn. In the last post, Evan Walker, a silencer, was struggling with something inside of him that prevented him from killing Cassie Sullivan, the main character of the book.
The unexpected turn is that Evan Walker has taken in Cassie and is taking care of her injuries. Cassie woke up in Evan’s home, and he has been taking care of her ever since. What Cassie does not know however, is that Evan is actually the silencer that was attempting to kill Cassie on the highway.
This part of the book brings out a lot of emotion in me because I cannot do anything to warn Cassie that Evan is a killer, and I just have to keep reading to find out what happens. Through background knowledge provided from the book, I can foreshadow what will happen in the future of the novel.
This is one of the things that I think the author, Rick Yancey, does best, which is to give the reader a feeling of suspense and interest to keep reading. he does a really god job of ‘hooking’ the reader in and wanting to continue reading to see what happens next.
