As I start to near Chapter 54, Cassie is still staying with Evan, the silencer, but it is different now because she knows something is wrong and she is starting to have major suspicions about Evan and who he really is.
Cassie is feeling really conflicted because she feels that Evan should not be trusted, but there has been no proof that supports any reason as to why Evan shouldn’t be trusted.
However, Evan gives countless reasons to leave the house to ‘go hunt’ while Cassie stays at the home by herself. Apparently, Evan gives Cassie anxiety and nervousness.
A main example of this anxiety/nervousness is when Cassie is home alone and hears a creak near her bedroom door. She picks up her gun and braces herself in case something dangerous enters her room, and pulls the door open. After opening the door, Cassie is really angry that it is just Evan on the other side, mainly because he scared her.
Conflict starts to arise in Cassie’s trust when Evan talks to her about his girfriend’s and siblings death.
The writer does a really good job with having Cassie and the reader feel the same about Evan, because he writes the book in such a way that Cassie’s emotions draw out my emotions, so I can side with Cassie when she is struggling with her trust for Evan.
Through all that Evan has shared with her, Cassie tries to make herself believe that Evan is someone she can trust, but she still has skepticisms.
